Our History, Beliefs, and Core Values

History:

On January 5, 1986, the Riverchase Baptist Mission was formed and began meeting in the basement of the Baptist Medical Center in Riverchase. The mission grew to church status in October 1987 and became known as Riverchase Baptist Church.   The church continued growing and in November 1990, moved into the church building at 2020 Crossvine Road, Hoover, Alabama.

Our Beliefs:

Mission Statement:   We glorify God by making Christ-centered, relationship-driven disciples of all people.

This mission statement conveys two primary concepts that guide our ministry: We are created to glorify God and we are to make disciples of all nations.

The Bible is the sole authority for Riverchase Baptist in matters of faith and life.

The Baptist Faith and Message of 1963 provides our guidelines for our church and governance.

Riverchase Baptist Church is a New Testament church choosing to voluntarily cooperate with many different organizations to carry out the mission of Christ to our community, state, nation, and beyond. On an international and national level, we affiliate with the IMB and NAMB as well as CBF Global Missions. We also affiliate with the Alabama State Board of Missions, the Shelby Baptist Association and Alabama CBF for state and local missions, as well as supporting local organizations, such as Jessie’s Place, Oak Mountain Missions, and others.

Our Core Values:

Worship: To worship God by offering our praise and prayers, proclaiming and responding to His word.  (John 4:24, Romans 12:1-2)

Missions: To pray for, support, and engage in global missions and lifestyle evangelism through church activities and missions. (Matthew 28: 19-20, Acts 1:8, Acts 10: 34-43)

Ministry: To minister to one another and our community and to equip one another for effective ministry. (Mathew 25: 37-40, Romans 12:10-23, James 2: 14-17)

Spiritual Growth: To develop and nurture spiritual growth, individually and corporately, through prayer, service and study of the Word. (Ephesians 4:15-16, 1 Peter 2:5)

Fellowship: To give and receive in a spirit of hospitality toward one another. (Acts 2: 42-47, 1 John 1:7)

Cooperation: To partner with other Christians in meeting the needs of our world and community. (1 Corinthians 1:10, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Ephesians 4:3-7)
